Importing Personal Effects

The below documents are required to import effects into the USA from the UK:

Completed US customs form – Britannia Alan Cook will supply these forms for you to complete
Copy of the photo page of your passport
Visa/residence card (if you do not have a U.S. passport)
Other documents maybe required – Britannia Alan Cook will advise if this is the case.

Importing Vehicles

It will need to be determined before shipping a vehicle to the U.S. if the vehicle is ‘Conforming or non-conforming’. Non-conforming vehicles should not be shipped to the U.S. Please ask Britannia Alan Cook for further information and what information would be required to see if a vehicle is’ conforming’ and if any duties would be charged to import the vehicle.

Moving Pets

A proof of inoculation would likely be required and arrangements would need to be made for a US agent to meet plane on arrival to start the clearance process. Please check for advice and further information from a company specialising in pet transportation.

Prohibitions and Restrictions:

Dependent on the state you are moving to alcohol & food are either prohibited to be shipped or can be restricted. If alcohol is permitted to be imported, it will be subject to import duties & taxes.
Plants & seeds are prohibited to be imported, medicines can be restricted. We can send a customs guide with more information on other prohibited and restricted items

Importing plants do you need a Phytosanitary certificate: It is prohibited to import plants to the US from the UK.

Although the famous annual U.S. celebration of Independence Day is July 4th, Independence from British rule was officially voted for on July 2nd,1776. It wasn’t until July 4th that the Declaration of Independence was adopted.
The American national anthem is called ‘The Star-Spangled Banner. It wasn’t formally designated as the national anthem of the United States until 1931. It had been officially used by the U.S. Navy since 1889.

The US have quote a good record at the Summer Olympic games…. they have the record for the most medals won. As of the end of the last summer Olympic games in Tokyo, the amount of medals won by U.S. athletes is 2629, they have won a gold medal on 1061 occasions.
